There really is no 'sport' that I could see myself doing to be quite honest. At least, no sports that fit the realm of what I have practised in the past. I'm sure if I asked Lucivar, he would immediately jump on any of the martial arts type events. If I had to pick one, though, it would have to be fencing. There is something about the sport itself that has such a fluid, mesmerising grace. Of course, I would never think to apply the term 'fluid' to those who call themselves -- I believe the weapon is sabre. It's far too choppy for my tastes.

No -- if I were to be in the Olympics -- it would be as an epee fencer. At least that sport is the closest one could come to replecating the Eryien blades. Shame there isn't something that's more dancelike that combines skill with a weapon and skill on one's feet. I'd consider it to be gymnastics but with an edge. There's a sport I cannot understand, but I can appreciate. Points awarded for the one who can spin the most times around a bar and do the most unique releases. Of course it's hard but at the same time -- I'd much prefer the events where you have an opponent you must outsmart. There are no judges in fencing, at least when it comes to epee. No one to subjectively judge.

It's simply you and your opponent.

And who got the touch first.

236: What Does Respect Mean to You?

For one who has lived a great many years without 'respect', I can say it means a great deal to me. I've lived too many years under the thumb of any of Dorothea's pet Queens. Women (and men alike) who have long since forgotten what it means to be Blood. Have forgotten such a simple thing as respect.

The number of years I have lived and have been viewed as nothing more than a proverbial piece of meat is something I do not care to relive. When one lives without respect, when one is viewed only for what pleasure they can give a woman (or a man for that matter) you begin to grow cold. Is it any wonder I began to be known as 'The Sadist'? Of course not. In lieu of respect, one can turn to pain. They get respect from the fear you strike in the hearts of others. It's not a respect for your person, but rather what you can do.

I suppose it is better than nothing. When people lose respect for you, you tend to lose respect for them.

Respect is something I pride and in Jaenelle, I have her love and her respect. What else does a man truly need?

233 :: Surprise!

Surprise! Your mother/a priest/an arch nemesis/the tax man/dinosaurs/your ex/a famous talk show host is at the door -- and at a most inopportune moment! Now what?!

The one thing I sincerely wouldn't mind is a bit of privacy at the Keep. I wouldn't doubt that, even if Jaenelle and I were to escape to her home one of the boyos would manage to find us there. That, or the prick. One would think with his own family to contend with that he'd keep his nose out of mine. Of course not. Privacy is not exactly a commodity easy to come by here.

Of course, there are those who think they have the absolute right to walk in at any point and time. Then again, when faced with Kaelas -- I highly doubt anyone would tell him not to come in. When faced with 800 pounds of Warlord Prince, what would you do?

You would do what any being with any bit of a brain would do. Open the door and let him in. While I may value my privacy and my time with Jaenelle, I'm not about to shut the door in the face of a red-jewelled Warlord Prince -- even if he is an oversized cat. Doesn't matter what my alter-ego is. Doesn't matter that I am the Sadist and sheer mention of my name strikes fear into... you get the idea. Doesn't matter that I could play a game with Kaelas that would have his fur standing on end. If he shows up, I step aside. I may be headstrong, but I'm not an idiot.

I wonder if it would be possible for a third set of hourglasses to be crafted. The third set that says no one is to disturb the Queen or her Consort.
